COCOA — After the winner of the girls’ varsity race of the Cape Coast Conference Cross Country Championships crossed the finish line Monday afternoon at Cocoa High, an onlooker shook her head and said to another, “Who is she? Where did she come from?”

She is Christina Hamilton.

She comes from Germany, by way of Satellite High a few months back. And with a time of 19 minutes, 56.04 seconds against wind and on unfamiliar ground, she established herself as a force going into the state series, which will start later this week.
